About Me

I’ve always loved to perform. I would sing and make up little plays in my living room and even force my friends to get into costume! When I was younger, I watched a lot of TV and, being raised in a Spanish household, I observed that the characters behaved differently than I did. They spoke an entirely different language so I became fascinated with their mannerisms, their slang, the way they carried themselves…I believe this is what ignited my interest in other people, in the behavior of other people and eventually, in becoming other people.

I became obsessed with cartoons and superheroes (especially Marvel’s X-men), and I realized that I wanted superpower! I wish that laser eyes, reading minds, and shape-shifting were a real thing but I recently realized a performer’s path was the only way I could embody my own superpower: Empathy. I believe this is the greatest strength any human could have and an important pillar in an actor’s work.

From the culturally diverse expansion that is South Florida, I moved a mere 3 hours away to Sarasota in the fall of 2011 to study at New College. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Humanities and a year afterwards went to the FSU/Asolo Conservatory for Actor Training. I graduated with my MFA in April 2019. fun fact: these campuses are across the street from each other!

During my time working and studying at the FSU/Asolo Conservatory I played various roles. I even got hired the Summer after my first year in the inaugural season of Dog Days Theatre. I played Lola/ Nettie in the play “Double Indemnity” adapted from James M. Cain’s novel. As Lola, I wore a blonde wig…and I may or may not be contemplating this as a permanent change.

I was also an understudy for Jen in “The Cake” by Bekah Brunstetter directed by Lavina Jadhwani, and I actually went on for three shows! It was a very exciting and most of all, humbling experience fun fact: for this show, I went on with only a couple hours notice! Before that I understudied Emmy in “A Doll’s House Part Two” by Lucas Hnath directed by Peter Amster, someday I wish to actually be cast in this role. In my third year, I was a part of my first ever educational Shakespeare tour! We performed a shortened version of “The Tempest” directed by Celine Rosenthal, in which I played Caliban. This was one of my favorite roles I’ve ever played so far as it’s not often I get to play a part normally acted by men.

The starring role in my third year as part of Asolo Rep was playing Mary Warren in “The Crucible” directed by Michael Donald Edwards. I’ve never had so much fun in a rehearsal process. I am very grateful to have been surrounded by such generous and brilliant actors.

Toward the end of my time at FSU/Asolo, the American Shakespeare Center in Staunton, VA came to audition a handful of the students. An in-person audition and a video callback later, they offered me a contract to nationally tour with them for the next year. I was very fortunate to travel the country with a talented bunch of artists and immerse myself in Shakespeare. This experience is what would inspire me for the next couple of years…

Now I work at Shakespeare & Company in Lenox, MA. I’m an Education Artist tasked with molding local youths and changing their minds about this old white guy who was writing plays in London a million years ago.
